All diesel and gasoline generator types need service and maintenance. Generator periodic maintenance and service to engines, which are one of the most important parts of generators, extends the service life of generators and minimizes the possibility of malfunctions.
The maintenance procedures included in the generator service can be divided into three categories: checks to be made before starting, checks to be made during operation, and periodic generator maintenance.
Checks to be made before starting;
1) Are there scratches, cracks and similar damages on the metal parts of the generator?
2) Is the generator placed on a smooth and suitable ground?
3) Are there any objects around the generator that will hinder the operation or create a hazard?
4) Is the exhaust system connected correctly?
5) Are the ventilation ducts properly connected?
6) Is there proper air circulation in the place where the generator is installed?
7) Is the engine oil, coolant level appropriate?
8) Is the energy cable cross section suitable for generator power and are the connections made correctly?
9) Are the battery terminals connected correctly?
10) Is there enough fuel in the fuel tank for start-up?
11) Are the control cables connected correctly?
12) Are the mains and generator transfer board connected correctly?
13) Is the generator grounded properly?
14) Are the engine block heater and battery charger connected correctly?
Checks to be made during operation;
1) Is there any abnormal sound or vibration?
2) Is there a gas leak in the exhaust system?
3) Is the air circulation suitable for air discharge and suction?
4) Are there any oil, fuel or water leaks?
5) Are the oil pressure and temperature values appropriate?
6) Is the fuel system deaired?
7) Is the charging voltage appropriate?
8) Is the phase sequence correct when generator energy is present?
9) Are the generator voltage and frequency appropriate?
10) Is the temperature appropriate when the load is increased gradually?
Diesel and gasoline generator periodic maintenances;
